Awakening

Goodbye winter and hello spring.  I have been living in the Toronto area for the last 28 years, and I can’t remember the last time we had such a dreadful winter like the passing one, in which there was no accumulation of snow and everything was just brown and grey.  So I am super excited about the new season and hopeful for some off time from work to make new images.

Spring Impressionism

Here is an image I made a couple of days ago at lunch.  Working nearby the Centennial Park Conservatory is a real advantage for a shutterbug like me.  There are 7 or 8 flower shows throughout the year, so there is always something to shoot.  I am only limited by my own creative vision.

Mississauga Farmers’ Market

The warm weather that we had yesterday made me think of the fresh vegetables and fruits at the local Farmers’ Markets, so I pulled this image out from my archive and edited it just a bit to boost the colours and contrast.  It won’t be long before the Farmers’ Markets will reopen again.

Muskoka Chairs, Blue Mountain Village

Love these bright, bold, and vibrant colours?  I do.  It seems like someone purposely arranged these chairs and put a blue chair in between the yellow, orange, and red for me to create this colourful image.

Do you know that the Muskoka chairs were originally known as the Westport chairs?  The original chair was designed by a man named Thomas Lee.  According to Wikipedia, he designed the chair while he was on vacation  in Westport, New York, near the Adirondack Mountains, and needed outdoor chairs for his summer home.  The “Westport” name later became the “Adirondack”, which refers to the Adirondack Mountains.  And the name Muskoka was adopted from the municipality of Muskoka, Ontario, a cottage country area north of Toronto.

Old Truck, Blue Mountain Village

I unexpectedly found this old truck just outside the Blue Mountain Ski Resort.  It was fenced off as it was a popular photographic subject with many people standing around the fence and taking family photos.  In order to avoid having other people in my pictures, I leaned over the fence and got really close to the truck for a couple of close-up shots.

I really like the way the horizontal lines intersect with the vertical lines in the first photo, and how the colours in the second photo shine through the rust and catch one’s attention.
